Welcome To The Anti-Mitt Romney Club: The Newt Surge
As many followers of the Republican primary can clearly see, the anti-Romney force is strong, but childish in it’s preference. Romney gives the Republicans the best chance to beat the President in 2012. But, the same reason he is attractive to independents is what the far right base of the Republican party detests. Romney seems like the political version of Barbie. He has perfect hair, perfect teeth, a seemingly perfect life. (although no human is perfect and everyone, and I mean everyone is flawed and has their dark points) So what gives? Why do Republicans have such a difficult time with the inevitable nominee, Mr. Mitt “I hate Jon Huntsman” Romney?
Well, the Republican party is currently held hostage by people who are off their rocker. This primary is comical. Giving the state of the country and the President’s subpar approval rating, you would think that the party who portrays itself as some serious group with the right policies for business, could do better than this. Right? Apparently not.
So Republican voters keep trying to find someone, anyone, other than Mitt Romney. Let’s see, they tried Michelle Bachmann, who puts the C in crazy. Even thoughtful Republicans would vote for Obama over her. They tried their hardest to get New Jersey Chris Christie to jump in. #fail. Haley Barbour #fail, Mitch Daniels #fail and then my favorite, the 999 man himself, Herman “don’t touch me like that” Cain. With a Wucky, Ducky, Quacky, Wicky Wop, of an entrance, he starts to crumble because of this.
So, you think the latest polls would finally show Romney pulling away right? again, #fail. Enter New Gingrich ladies and gentlemen. An after thought for most of this primary, he suddenly surges towards the Mittster.
Apparently, Republican primary voters want a “serious” and scholarly alternative, instead of the looney bin they have bestowed upon America. So here comes the Newt Surge baby! O yes, Newt, such a lovely little man. After attacking President Clinton because of America’s favorite intern, Monica Lewinsky, Newt decided to give his dying wife a parting gift. And it was’t something from Tiffany’s either. But Newt, provides primary voters with something they crave more than a cup of hot tea: Somebody who can defeat Romney and then Obama.
Tea Party Republicans despise Mitt, but it is a frivolous waste of anger and energy trying to dispose him.
So Republicans, learn to like that smile Mitt flashes at you, because he is your nominee. It is what it is.
O and one last point. Get used to Obama playing this clip and a debate about how close Obamacare and Romneycare actually are.
Have a nice day!
