If you grew up in the late 90’s then you must remember the familiar chant “go Ricki, go Ricki”. The audience of The Ricki Lake Show chanted it happily during each episode of the daytime talk show.  Ricki ran from 1993 to 2004.  Those of us that were fans remember it fondly! Well the days of longing for the breath of fresh air Ricki brought to each episode is finally over because she is back! The Ricki Lake Show is re-launching on September 10^th.

Today the world is a different place then it was in the late 90’s.  Social media like Facebook and Twitter are the way of the world now.  Taking full advantage of the social media world Ricki has launched an online community to bring her fans together.  The Friends of Ricki is an online community bringing Ricki Lake fans together coast to coast.  You can find them on twitter @RickiLakeShow or #friendsofricki.

The show is also inspiring fans to get together face to face thanks to the online site Meetup.  Meetup.com is an online platform that brings together groups of people with similar interests.  The Ricki Lake Show has put together Friends of Ricki Meetup events in many major cities throughout the US.  Each city has a local meetup coordinator that organizes and plans the events.  Once people join the meetup they are then given the details of Friends of Ricki event.  As new events are planned they are notified via the meetup group.

Luckily we will have a local Boston area Friends of Ricki Meetup.  The Boston area meetup will be participating in The Change Challenge.  The Change Challenge was created by Heather Frey of Smash Fit in Miami, Fl.  The challenge is different in that it takes the focus away from the scale and focuses on small, manageable, life changes.  The premise is after some time all the small changes add up and before you know it you are reaching your goal of a healthy lifestyle.
